Microsoft Surface Pro (2024) Copilot+ PC: Is this 2-in-1 a smart buy at 31% off?

The Microsoft Surface Pro 2024

If you’re in the US and in the market for a first-party 2-in-1 from Microsoft, check out this Microsoft Surface Pro (2024) with Snapdragon X Elite (12 Core) deal. This 2-in-1 Surface Pro is now at a 31% discount from its $1,700 list price, meaning you can get it for just $1,170. Amazon has this deal marked as the lowest price in 30 days, but Keepa.com claims it’s the lowest price this Surface Pro has ever been (purchase link down below).

For your money, you will get a Microsoft Surface Pro packed with 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a 13” OLED touchscreen. While this is a 2-in-1, to use it like a laptop you will need the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard (sold separately) or find another compatible keyboard.

What it does (and doesn’t) include

As a Copilot+ PC, you’ll benefit from the new AI capabilities such as improved Windows Search, Recall, Cocreator in Paint, and Live Translate. Much of this processing is done on the 45 TOPS neural processing unit (NPU), so it’s efficient at AI tasks. The NPU accompanies the Snapdragon X Elite (12 Core), which Microsoft claims is faster than the MacBook Air M3, according to Cinebench results.

This tablet has a 13” OLED touchscreen with a 1M:1 contrast ratio. It’s got a battery life of 14 hours to get you through the day and supports fast charging so you can get right back to work. Inside is a 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD, which is pretty standard nowadays and should be ample for most people. There are also AI-enhanced HD front and rear cameras for having virtual meetings.

Attaching a compatible keyboard to this tablet will let you use it like a laptop, but you don’t need to use one as it can be used as a tablet.

It’s important to note that this product doesn’t come with Microsoft’s keyboard for this device, all you are buying is the tablet portion of the Surface Pro. There is also a Surface Pen that you can use with this product, but that is also sold separately.

Microsoft says it has also used recycled aluminum and more replaceable components, which is important for sustainability.

Should you buy it?

Given the 2-in-1 nature of the Surface Pro, it appeals to a wider range of users. For example, creatives can also buy a Surface Pen to get artwork done, something that is more difficult on a normal laptop. It’s also portable, which would make it appealing to students and professionals on the go. Thanks to its status as a Copilot+ PC, it is also good for anyone desiring Windows 11’s AI features.

With this Surface Pro, you’re getting a powerful ARM processor, an OLED display, ample storage, and 2-in-1 flexibility at a significant discount. When you buy this at the discounted price of $1,169.99, you’re saving a huge $530.

While other good 2-in-1 devices exist such as the Apple iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and the Dell XPS 2-in-1, these are not first-party Microsoft devices. If you want something direct from Microsoft, then this 2-in-1 is better than the mentioned products.
