Seagate's new 4TB Xbox Storage Expansion Card has an eye-watering price

The Seagate Storage Expansion Card

It appears that Seagate's lineup of Xbox Storage Expansion Cards is getting a new, higher-spec model. Users spotted a 4TB configuration at Best Buy with an eye-watering price tag that matches the price of the 1TB Xbox Series S.

So far, Seagate storage expansion cards have been available in three configurations: 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB. However, with modern games getting bigger and bigger with each release (Forza Horizon 5, with all of its expansions and DLCs, requires nearly 180GB of disk space), 2TB might not be enough for some gamers who want to keep several games on their consoles. As such, Seagate is releasing the 4TB variant. At least it appears so.

Neither Seagate nor Microsoft made any official announcements, so the Best Buy listing is the only source so far. The official debut could likely happen at the upcoming Xbox Game Showcase on June 8. However, you can already order the expansion card on Best Buy for a whopping $429.99. That is the same price as what Microsoft is now asking for the 1TB Xbox Series S after the recent price increase.

The 4TB Seagate Storage Expansion Card

Other than a massive amount of space for your games, the new 4TB Xbox Storage Expansion Card from Seagate is the same as the lower-spec models—a compact black SSD with a proprietary connector that sticks into the back of your console with no need to disassemble it. The drive operates at the same speed as the internal storage, which means you can use all the Xbox Velocity Architecture features, such as Quick Resume, faster loading times, and more.

If 4TB is too much for you but you would still like to get some extra space for Xbox games, you can get the 2TB variant for $219.99 (39% off MSRP) or the 1TB variant for $129.99 (19% off MSRP).
